This started out good the knee was feeling a little rough at first. However, it had little to no effect on my running. I set out for a run around town, a run my friend Gallagher calls the "gauntlet." Hwy 51 to Hwy B then to Hwy N and so on. Well, I was heading East on Hwy B coming up on Country Club RD. A vehicle heading East was turning left onto Country Club, when the driver of a truck heading East swerved hard to the South opposite of me, as I was running into traffic; the truck hit a sign giving me a good heads up, he then stuffed his truck between a utility pole and guy wire he managed to hit very hard snapping the guy wire and clipping that pole hard. I don't think he ever saw it coming and was easily up to Hwy speed! I was only about 20 seconds away at my running pace. Thinking the worse and running trauma situations through my head, I was surprised the guy was fine. He climbed out of the passengers side after the drivers side wouldn't open. This was as I was running up on the back of the vehicle. I asked him if he was the only one in the vehicle; he was. He was coherent yet understandably confused, thinking he actually hit the vehicle that was attempting to make a left hand turn, but quickly figured out what was going on. So I figured him to be OK; as my GPS was still tracking me and I was heading into the 8mm range. I had to get running and fast. When I saw a friend of mine who is a police officer pull up I was gone. Continued mission and cranked my time back down to the high 7mm range. Nevertheless, by the time I hit Hwy N I stopped and talked to another friend for a minute. So my average pace is about 6 minutes off. This run should be an average of 7:55mm's. I stopped and took a picture this morning; how he went between the pole and guy wire, I have no idea? Look at the tire tracks you couldn't do that twice in a row! Always, run into traffic, Chris Activity
