Sure it's chilly at 20° however, after a few blocks I had to ditch the gloves and neck gator! Guess I'm just used to running when it's quite a bit colder these days. The run itself felt awesome and hopefully, I can regain some sanity, as I was starting to lose my mind! With vigor in my heart since losing all hope for a girl while in battle, is a perpetual pain; never, will I hoe that row again, despite the temptations! On a brighter note 65 miles for January, kind of off to a slow start, but I'll take it as it's been colder than a witches' teat! Gotta run, Chris P.S. Not a bad winter pace especially considering, I stopped for pizza and coffee at my cousin Leigh's! Activity

The Gloves Came off for a Relaxed 10 Mile Run
27 January 2010
I'd Hoped for a 4° Run Tonight, but 11° was Cool
11° was cool and 19mph winds kept it that way! Man, the cold can drain you sometimes. For a 3 mile run at an easy 8mm I was smoked! The first mile was easy felt real good; the second mile was spent head on w/19mph winds. I think that may be what drained me? I've run a lot further and faster in colder weather. Oh well, at least my ankle felt good after Monday's ankle roll I was worried. No worries, must be the Drunk Flamingo I've been doing in my spare time! Regards, Chris Activity

Relaxed Run in the Snow 'till I Rolled an Ankle
Started out wondering why I was even running? With a strong head wind, the kind that makes you dig deep and a light covering of (ice hiding) snow, the first mile sucked! I started to warm up as I turned onto Hwy 138 and got out of the head wind. However, as I warmed up I had to ditch the neck gator and while crossing the street, watching traffic, chewing gum, and taking the neck gator off, I slipped. After some fancy foot work, I ended up rolling my ankle in the brief fight to stay upright! So much for a relaxed run; now I'm hopping and stumbling for about half a block! I'm sure I looked pretty goofy like I was just learning how to walk, when I was trying to run. The rest of the run was irritating and had me wondering if it would be worse latter? Well, the ankle is fine after a shower, so I'll live to fight another day! I think it was an inversion; however, I have no reason to believe anything is torn just stretched. Please see diagram and/or visit this link to learn about types of ankle sprains. I may have to start doing the drunk flamingo in my spare time! Getting sick of winter, Chris P.S. I found some good advice for running in the snow. P.P.S. Morning Update: My ankle hurts, it feels just like the inversion in the diagram above! Activity

Ran some Hills on an Awesome 36° day w/Drizzle
Should’ve worn shorts by mile one I had to ditch the long-sleeved Under Armour HeatGear shirt I had on, leaving me in a t-shirt and a PT jacket/windbreaker. The good old Army PT Jacket is very breathable and does a great job keeping the drizzle off myself and my BlackBerry! Yes, I said I wear HeatGear in the winter; ColdGear is to warm and cotton is the enemy! Would’ve been great without the running pants for the first time in a long time! As for the hills, they may not be the biggest, but it’s all I have around here and they do just fine (if you keep the pace up). Back to work, Chris Activity

When My Girl Was 27 She up and Died and went Straight to Heaven
Well, I beat the freezing rain with a quick 6miler! 28° made for a comfortable run without a lot of miserable cold weather gear. The only thing that sucked was my damn feet fell asleep about half way through this run? Maybe my shoes were tied to tight for this 28° warm spell? My feet have never fallen asleep in the cold before; or when it was warm out for that matter, oh well! Six miles -- Better yet, Chris Activity

Short yet Quick for a Winter Run
Since I've been running a relaxed pace all winter, tonight's 7mm pace was a bit faster than usual. This would definitely be a relaxed pace in nice weather, but...in January it's sweat rolling off my forehead by mile two and its 28° out! I'd like to focus on keeping the pace in the 7's, but I'm sure it will snow or something (like ice) to slow me back down. What fun, Chris Activity

Should've Worn Ice Skates: What a Crazy Run!
For most of the run I was able to kick back and listen to Andrew Wilkow with PodTrapper on my BlackBerry. The only downfall was having to be so vigilant for ice. Just don't be a couch potato, Chris Activity
